DPC practices do not participate in insurance plans; therefore they are not confined by the requirements of insurance plans, such as the ever-increasing and costly documentation demands and administrative intrusions that come with accepting insurance. The monthly fee allows us to spend as much time as needed with patients in order to treat them and get to the root of their problems. This allows us to be very thorough and thoughtful in your care. Additionally, it allows for increased accessibility so that when you get sick you can easily be seen by Dr. Mike every time. Our goal is to partner with you in a way that is not possible in the current traditional/insurance model and pass the savings along to you.
We can see patients with or without insurance, but we do NOT bill insurance directly for visits with us. You can use your insurance for specialist visits, medications, and labs/imaging. By not contracting directly with insurance, we can offer better care. The unlimited appointments, texting access, and same/next day and virtual appointments are all included in your monthly membership fee, so you don’t have to worry about additional fees every time you see us.
No, a Down Home Health membership is not meant to replace insurance. Instead, it provides an affordable way to meet all your primary care needs. We recommend that everyone have some type of insurance (usually high deductible, low premium) or health share plan as a safety net against the unpredictable health events, such as hospitalization or a necessary specialist.
Unfortunately, until we successfully opt out of Medicare, we will not be able to enroll Medicare or Medicare Advantage patients at this time. However, please contact us to find out more information if you are interested in a membership in the future.
Our goal is to care for all our patients’ needs within our realm of training. For most needs, we can provide urgent care and minor emergency services that will help patients avoid a long and expensive visit to an urgent care or ER facility. However, we recognize that there are diagnoses and injuries that we are not qualified to handle and will require referrals to a specialist.
We can refer you to any specialist should the occasion arise and coordinate your care with other physicians.
One of the best ways you can invest in your health is by establishing a long-term relationship with a doctor who knows you and can help you focus on your overall wellness. One of our goals is to prevent disease and help you live a healthy life instead of treating a disease once it develops. Also, in the traditional healthcare system, it is often difficult to be seen when you are sick, which may lead to delay in treatment or inconvenient and expensive urgent care/ER visits when you have an unexpected illness. The ability to call/text or be seen by your own personal doctor as soon as an issue comes up can often help you deal with a surprise illness before it gets worse.
Yes! This is one of the major benefits of your membership. After normal office hours, you can reach Dr. Mike by texting or calling.
Absolutely! We would love to be the primary care doctor for your entire family and develop meaningful relationships that lead to better care.
D.O. stands for “Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine”. DO doctors attend medical school, undergo the same residency training, and take the same board exams as MD doctors. The only difference is that DO medical school philosophy teaches the tenets of osteopathic medicine. We are taught to approach the human body as a whole person and to focus more on holistic health and prevention. We aren’t as quick to prescribe medications at the drop of a hat, so that we can focus on getting to the root of the problem. Also, DOs receive additional training in osteopathic manipulative medicine (OMM), which is a hands-on method for diagnosing and treating patients.
